Kansas City is located in the ‘Heart of America’ and contains a wonderful blend of history and culture. The InterContinental Kansas City at the Plaza is located adjacent to the grand architecture of the Country Club Plaza, which was inspired by the beauty of the southern Spanish town, Seville. A leisurely five-minute walk will take you to historic Loose Park and Rose Gardens.
Just off the Country Plaza is the Nelson Atkins Museum, which holds over 33,000 pieces of artwork and is recognized as one of America’s finest art museums. Adjacent to the Nelson Atkins is the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art and the Kansas City Art Institute. Both contain a mesmerizing display of different works. If you want something less arty, located in the historic 18th district are the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and the American Jazz Museum, which both have fascinating exhibits. Before returning to the hotel, enjoy the superb shopping at the Country Club Plaza, home to famous designer stores and enchanting, local boutiques.
Kansas City comes to life at night. Start your evening off by dining at Fiorella’s Jackstack, a local favorite barbecue restaurant. Our own Oak Bar is home to many of Kansas City’s best jazz musicians..
