Who We Are
The American Escrow Association, formed in 1980, prides itself on being the representative of its member states and individual members in the escrow and settlement industry. Our goals are to further the education and professionalism of the escrow industry as a whole.
Our Legislative Advocate provides current information regarding changes to laws and regulations is already available to our members online. We are proud of the national presence AEA continues to provide its members. The collective voice of the settlement agents could not be heard more clearly than through the American Escrow Association.
The American Escrow Association is committed to working proactively on behalf of all settlement agents throughout the country by building awareness of the important role we play in the settlement process and by addressing the common issues that affect the entire settlement industry, no matter what particular settlement practice you may be engaged in.
Our Mission Statement
• Enhance the education of the escrow/settlement professional.
• Improve escrow and closing services.
• Disseminate information as to the differences in such services between states.
• Promote more uniformity in such services.
• Increase the public knowledge and understanding of such services.
• Coordinate legislative efforts throughout these United States.
Our Creed
Members of the American Escrow Association pledge to abide by the following Creed to:
Abide by all laws and regulations governing the processing of, handling and general operation of all real estate and loan closing transactions.
Recognize the principles of the professional trust and confidence placed on those in our profession and maintain the confidential nature of all settlement transactions.
Sustain our fiduciary responsibility to the principals in each transaction by remaining an unbiased and neutral third party.
Continuously acquire and maintain a sufficient professional knowledge of the Escrow/Settlement industry so that our responsibilities are completed with integrity and bring honor to our chosen profession.
Avoid, at all times, giving legal advice in any matter or manner and/or engaging in the unauthorized practice of law.
Uphold the integrity, dignity and worthiness of our vocation by industrious application to the end that we may merit a reputation for a high quality of service to our employer, customer, and fellow Escrow/Settlement agent.
Be loyal to our Association and its ideals.
Publications
We publish on this site the "Federal Update" as needed to keep our membership informed on regulatory and legislative matters. This publication provides current information regarding proposed, new, or pending changes to the rules and regulations that govern our industry. Our goal is to provide the "Federal Update" to our members by using broadcast email to expedite the distribution of the very timely information contained therein.
